Info

Very often I see parents concerned about letting their small children surf the internet and all the time they are asking: "Is it really useful? Is it really convenient? Is it really necessary??? How old a child should be to surf the net?"

I remember running away from my computer screen when I first attempted searching for any topic and as a result I was misguided into any kind of obscure sites, and even without any interaction, sites started popping out in front of my face. Search engines have improved and today it is possible to filter some of the information we are receiving. Still, you may be planning on your next oil change and navigate by accident to a questionable site.

The question is... Are you taking that chance with your child?

My advise is always: surf the net with your child, use with him a computer that has some kind of filtering, if possible. Learn about kid-friendly sites and make sure he stays there. Lead your child, don't let him go ahead of you.

This page is a first attempt to be a kids-friendly site, but as we have links to third party sites I recommend that you explore it with your child. The main goal is to get small children involved with Science and provide for them a learning experience. Please feel free to download these safety tips.
